This 18k gold ring with a bezel-set cabochon is reminescent of a renaissance styled ring. Including the large and lucious 15ct orange chalcedony, the ring weighs 28 grams, or just under 1 ounce.

Chalcedony is a term that describes quartz that has become microscopically crystallized and stained various colors by natural pigments. Chalcedony is often found in blue, and less commonly in the bright orange seen in this stone. Other colors of chalcedony have distinct names. Carnelian is a type of chalcedony that is typically brownish-red. Jasper and agate are other forms of chalcedony. It is a hard stone (7 on the Mohs scale) and is a strong and durable gem for rings.
