- The stone reminds me of a starry night sky. Goldstone is a man-made stone. The original recipe was a closely guarded secret of the Miotti family in Venice during the 17th century. It is made from glass with tiny metallic crystalline clusters that reflect the light. Now widely available, it comes in coppery brown, or dark purple as in this piece. The stone really sparkles and flashes in the sunlight.
- The pendant's bezel is 1¼ inches long and 7/8 inches wide. The bat wing bail that the pendant hangs from is ¾ inches wide.
- The back of the pendant has a pierced silver bat in flight.

- I love bats! They are cute, mysterious, very beneficial, and so misunderstood. All of the bats that live in the US are insectivores. Every night, bats eat literally tons of mosquitoes and other insects. Bats are the only mammal that truly flies.
